My large paintings are less dependent on serial thinking because so much effort goes into the execution of each big surface. Still, there are repetitive elements that travel from one painting to the next, changing as they go. One new development for me is that I have returned to acrylic for my large paintings. Committed as I am to encaustic, I find that working in acrylic gives me the freedom to work larger. I talk about this in a blog entry, "Acrylic As a Second Language." |
